Please review the terms governing our sessions, bookings, and studio policies.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the booking, purchase, attendance and participation in any class, workshop, programme or event (“Sessions”) conducted by Zen Ceramic Studio (“the Studio”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By making a booking, submitting payment, or attending any Session, the individual (“Participant”, “you”, “your”) is deemed to have accepted these Terms.
1. Formation and Acceptance of Agreement
Binding Agreement
By completing a booking, payment, registration, or by attending any Zen Ceramic class, workshop, or event - whether paid directly or through a third-party platform - the Participant shall be deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full.
Availability of Terms
These Terms are available on the Studio’s website and at the Studio premises. Participants are responsible for reviewing the Terms prior to booking and attending any Session.
2. Categories of Sessions and Eligibility Requirements
Age Restrictions
Some sessions may have specific age limits. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirement stated in the class description.
Hand-Building Classes
Open to all ages, including children below seven (7).
Each class runs for two (2) hours, with an additional thirty (30) minutes provided free of charge. The Studio reserves the right to impose additional charges for any class that exceeds two and a half (2.5) hours.
Wheel-Throwing Classes
Open to Participants aged seven (7) and above, due to equipment safety requirements.
Parental Override Disclaimer
If a parent or guardian insists that a child below seven (7) participate in wheel-throwing activities, such participation shall be entirely at the parent or guardian’s own risk. The Studio shall not be held responsible for any injury, incident or adverse outcome arising from such participation.
Duration
Each class runs for two (2) hours, with an additional thirty (30) minutes provided free of charge. Additional charges will apply for any class exceeding two and a half (2.5) hours.
Painting Classes
Open to all ages, including children below seven (7).

Completion of the Finished Products
Finished products will undergo a complete firing and glazing cycle, which typically requires approximately five (5) to six (6) weeks from the date of the class. Timeline may vary depending on kiln scheduling, volume of items, glaze requirements, or unforeseen circumstances.
Firing Risk Notice
Participants acknowledge that cracking, warping, pinholing, colour variation or breakage may occur during the firing process due to inherent material characteristics and factors beyond the Studio’s control.
In the event of breakage or cracking during firing, Participants may choose to:
- re-make the item at the Studio at a 50% discounted rate of the original purchase price; or
- request the Studio to re-make the item at a 70% discounted rate of the original purchase price, subject to reasonable production lead times. The Studio will endeavour to replicate the item to the best of its abilities and the Participants will be notified of the updated collection date of the item.
Parental Supervision & Consent for Minors
- Any parent/guardian entering the workshop area must be a registered and paying Participant.
- Parents/guardians acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of ceramic activities on behalf of the minor.
- Parents/guardians agree to indemnify the Studio for any damage or loss caused by the minor due to negligence or misconduct.
Collection and Delivery of Finished Items
- Finished products may be collected in person or delivered via an external delivery partner.
- Delivery is undertaken at the Participant’s own risk, although the Studio will take reasonable precautions in packaging.
- Delivery fees must be paid upfront.
- Items must be collected within three (3) months from the date of collection notice. Uncollected items will be disposed of without refund and the Participant shall have no claim whatsoever against the Studio.
3. Booking Methods, Deposit & Payment Terms
Booking Channels
Bookings may be made via:
- the Studio’s website;
- WhatsApp at +6016-453 8799;
- direct phone call to the same number; or
- social media direct messaging.
Payment Requirement
Full payment is required at the time of booking or as otherwise specified in writing. Payment must be made to confirm the booking. Failure to make full payment will result in the booking being void and unconfirmed.
Participant Information
Participants must provide accurate and complete information, including name, email address, phone number and address. Providing false or incomplete information may result in cancellation without refund.
Minimum Participant Requirement
The Studio reserves the right to reschedule or consolidate Sessions should the minimum number of Participants required for operational viability not be met. Affected Participants may choose to:
- transfer to another available Session at the same Studio;
- attend the Session at another branch of the Studio (subject to availability); or
- receive a full refund.
Finality of Booking
Once a Participant selects and confirms a date, the booking is final and no changes are permitted. Participants are strongly advised to make the necessary arrangements to ensure availability on the chosen date.
Group Bookings Treated as Individual Participants
For the avoidance of doubt, where a Participant makes a booking for multiple persons under a single reservation (including but not limited to 2–10 pax bookings), each reserved seat shall be deemed an individual booking for one (1) person.
If fewer participants attend than the number originally booked, the fees for the absent participants shall be forfeited in full, unless the Participant(s) provide notice of cancellation or rescheduling in accordance with the applicable notice periods stated in these Terms & Conditions.
No refund, credit or rescheduling will be provided for any unused seat where the required notice is not met.
4. Cancellation and Refund Policy
The cancellation and refund policy is as follows:

Failure to reschedule a within thirty (30) days from the original date shall result in 100% forfeiture of the purchase price.
If Participants fail to attend a rescheduled Session - regardless of the amount of notice provided - the full purchase price shall be forfeited, and no refund or further rescheduling will be permitted.
Cancellation by the Studio
If the Studio cancels a Session due to unforeseen circumstances (including but not limited to instructor illness, equipment failure, power outage, safety concerns, or insufficient participants), Participants may choose to:
- to transfer to another Session at the same Studio; or
- attend a Session at another Studio branch (subject to availability); or
- receive a full refund.
Product Variations and Returns
- Handmade ceramic items may naturally exhibit variations and imperfections.
- Refunds are not provided after collection of finished items, except where damage is directly attributable to the Studio’s negligence.
- Uncollected items after three (3) months will be disposed of and Participant shall have no claim whatsoever against the Studio.
5. Conduct, Safety and Use of Premises
Late Arrival and Class Catch-Up Policy
- Participants are expected to arrive on time for all Sessions. Late arrival may disrupt the Session and affect the learning experience of other Participants.
- Where a Participant arrives more than fifteen (15) minutes late, or such other grace period as may be determined and communicated by the Studio from time to time, the Studio reserves the right, at its discretion, to require the Participant to engage an additional instructor to provide catch-up instruction.
- Any additional instruction required due to late arrival shall be subject to additional charges, payable by the late Participant at the Studio’s prevailing rates.
- Notwithstanding any late arrival or additional instruction provided, the Session shall conclude at the originally scheduled end time, being a maximum duration of two and a half (2.5) hours, and shall not be extended.
- No refund, credit, rescheduling or extension shall be granted due to late arrival, whether or not the Participant elects to engage additional instruction.
Health and Safety Compliance
Participants must follow all instructions provided by instructors or staff. Participants must disclose any medical or physical conditions that may affect safety or participation.
Studio Etiquette
The Studio reserves the right to deny participation or remove any Participant who behaves in a manner deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate. No refund shall be provided in such circumstances.
Damage to Studio Property
Participants shall be liable for the cost of repair or replacement of Studio equipment, tools, furniture or property damaged due to their negligence or misuse.
Display Items and Damage Due to Participant Conduct
- All displayed ceramic items, finished works, samples, and products within the Studio premises are the property of the Studio unless expressly stated otherwise.
- Participants are strictly required to handle all displayed items with due care and only with the permission or guidance of Studio staff.
- Where any displayed item is damaged or broken as a result of a Participant’s careless, negligent, reckless, or unauthorised handling (including but not limited to mishandling or misuse), such item shall be deemed sold to the Participant at the displayed or reasonable market price, as determined by the Studio.
- The Participant shall be required to make payment for the damaged item immediately or within such time as the Studio may reasonably specify.
- This clause is without prejudice to the Studio’s right to claim for additional loss or damage where applicable.
Prohibited Behaviour
Prohibited behaviours include, but are not limited to the following:
- harassment or abuse of staff;
- threatening behaviour;
- unauthorised recording or photography of staff;
- unsafe conduct; and
- misuse of tools or equipment.
Use of Tools and Equipment
All tools, clay, materials and equipment remain the property of the Studio unless expressly stated otherwise.
Personal Property
The Studio shall not be liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings brought onto the premises.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
All teaching materials, designs, demonstrations, techniques and content provided during Sessions are protected by intellectual property laws. Reproduction, recording, dissemination or use for commercial purposes is prohibited without prior written consent.
7. Risk Acknowledgement and Limitation of Liability
Assumption of Risk
Participants acknowledge that ceramic activities involve inherent risks including exposure to heat, sharp tools, rotating machinery, chemicals, and physical exertion.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, the Studio shall not be liable for:
- injuries or losses arising from the Participant’s own negligence or misuse;
- actions of other Participants;
- allergic reactions unless caused by the Studio’s gross negligence;
- failure to follow safety instructions;
- inherent risks associated with ceramic arts;
- delays or damage caused by third-party couriers; and
- loss or damage to personal property.
Indemnity
The Participant (and parent/guardian in the case of a minor) agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Studio, its employees, agents and/or servants against claims, losses, damages or expenses arising from the Participant’s negligence, misconduct or breach of these Terms.
No Third-Party Liability
The Studio is not liable for harm or damage caused by the actions or omissions of other participants.
Outcome Disclaimer
The Studio does not guarantee specific results for ceramic pieces, as firing and glaze outcomes naturally vary.
8. Gift Vouchers and Store Credit
Gift vouchers and credits:
- are valid for six (6) months from issuance;
- are non-refundable;
- cannot be exchanged for cash; and
- must be used for Sessions or merchandise offered by the Studio.
9. Promotions and Loyalty Programmes
The Studio may offer promotions or referral incentives from time to time. These may be modified or withdrawn without notice. Abuse of promotions (including excessive cancellations) may result in forfeiture of promotional benefits.
10. Right to Refuse or Terminate Service
The Studio reserves the right to refuse service or terminate a booking without refund where a Participant:
- breaches these Terms;
- behaves dangerously, unlawfully or disruptively;
- is under the influence of intoxicating substances; or
- interferes with safety or operational procedures.
11. Operational Interruptions and Class Disruptions
The Studio reserves the right to halt, suspend or discontinue any Session immediately where the Session is affected by unforeseen operational interruptions, including but not limited to:
- electricity cuts or fluctuations;
- circuit trips or power stability issues;
- water supply interruptions;
- equipment malfunction or breakdown;
- environmental or building-related hazards; or
- any other circumstance that renders continuation of the Session unsafe or impracticable.
In the event of such interruption, the affected Session shall be rescheduled to another date and time to be mutually determined by the Studio and the Participant, subject to reasonable availability.
Participants acknowledge and agree that such interruptions are outside the Studio’s reasonable control. Accordingly:
- no refunds, partial refunds, credits or compensation of any kind shall be provided; and
- the Studio’s sole obligation shall be to provide a replacement Session equivalent to the original Session purchased.
The Studio shall not be liable for any inconvenience, loss, cost, or damages suffered by Participants due to such interruptions, including but not limited to travel expenses, schedule disruptions or personal arrangements.
If operational conditions permit, the Studio and the affected Participants may resume the Session on the same day after the issue has been resolved. However, the Studio is not obligated to continue the Session on the same day.
12. Complaints, Grievance Procedure and Public Communications
Complaints Procedure
Participants may submit complaints via email ([email protected]), WhatsApp (016 – 4538 799) or in person to the Director, Ronald Wong. The Studio will acknowledge and respond within a reasonable timeframe and attempt to resolve the matter professionally and in good faith.
Prohibition on Defamatory Publications
Participants shall not publish or disseminate false, misleading or defamatory statements relating to the Studio on social media or other platforms. The Studio reserves all rights to take legal action, including for defamation or malicious falsehood, where such conduct occurs.
13. Dangerous Designs and Firing Refusals
The Studio reserves the right to refuse firing or production of items that are:
- structurally unsafe;
- incompatible with the kiln;
- made from external clay or materials; or
- likely to cause damage to equipment or other participants’ work.
14. Photography and Recording
The Studio may take photographs or short videos of Sessions for documentation or promotional purposes. Participants may opt out by notifying the Studio in writing before the Session.
Participants shall not record staff or instructors without permission.
15. Amendments to Terms, Schedule and Pricing
The Studio may revise these Terms, fees or class schedules at any time. Updated Terms will take effect upon publication on the Studio’s website and shall apply to all new bookings.
16. Privacy and Data Protection
Any personal data collected will be used strictly for administrative, operational and communication purposes, and will be processed in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA 2010).
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the KL courts.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
